Pcsx 2 and your pc hardware

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to improve my pc by replacing my old video card the Geforce 9600gt with the several times more powerful Geforce 660.

Naturally, as a fan of ps2 games, I wanted to emulate a game called Vice city stories. If you read my blog already, you would know that open world games very often cause an fps drop when emulating, since it is difficult to handle them for your pc. The reason for this is: the emulator is still in development and not 100% complete. But I gotta say, the emulation itself is very nice, graphical bugs are non existent in the current version (comparing it to the old versions that I had used before, even emulating this game).

Here are my results with the new graphics card:

The fps drops have not changed.

As it turns out the emulator takes almost all power from the CPU.

If you upgrade that, then you will truly see a difference.

For now the performance is based on CPU>GPU

The developers are trying to change it to GPU>CPU, but it might take years for it to happen.

Pc games that I own, however have shown great improvements.

This is a quick notice to ps2, (pcsx2) fans. I hope this information is valuable to your own experience.

Lineage 2 vs Rift. My review.

I played Lineage 2 since the chronicle 1.
My pc was so bad it couldn't even run the game. Today, I look back at those early days of my gaming life.

By finding more time this summer I stood between these choices:

Force myself to play an old chronicles, although I was never really that good at the game anyway or try a new mmorpg.

I am glad I chose the right patch.
On the 21st of July I started my adventure into Rift.

I feel though as it is my responsibility to compare both games and help those who lived in the world of Lineage 2 for a long time and are searching for something equal good.

What can I say, Rift delivers.

I won't even talk about every feature this game has to offer, I just want to shine some light on some core elements that make this mmorpg so good.

Endless activities: quests that are actually fun, rewarding and not too easy, yet no too grindy. A feature that was a big lack in Lineage 2. Now I know. Perhaps Wow has a better quest system, I just can't say.
Housing- taken from WoW, was copied by Runes of magic, a game I also think is weak compared to this. Lootable objects, visitation, big spaces to work with and a lot of creativity plus hard work.
That alone is very comfortable as it relieves you from tiring battles
A big variety of customization (mainly after creating your character). Possible, unlike Lineage 2, affordable, unlike Runes of magic.

The armor and weapon changes show off your hard work in the game.

Clan, raid, dungeon finder.
A feature that annihilates many mmorpgs that I played before.
Like I said, I never got my hands on WoW, but Rift has something that neither L2, RoM, Runescape, or Silkroad or any game before offer:

a amazing way to find clans, groups of people just to have fun

I was never a big social man. I did advertise myself in online games, many times I played without even belonging to a guild. Rifts system offered me a guild on the first several hours of the game.
Partly, because people are more cooperative and social. But this might depend on many factors.

The combat itself is good. I play mainly as a rogue archer, and I have the time of my life. No stupid dealing with the amount of arrows you have, the skill tree is open to many changes and leaves all the previous mentioned mmorpgs in the dust. You choose your skills, you work on your stats and can even craft almost all items you need. No longer is crafting limited to the dwarfs, which is fantastic.

And the best part: it's free

Perhaps one of the negative points I can see with this game is the fact, that it has p2w elements.
The shops allows people willing to spend money mounts, certain abilities and changes that you can't normally partake, but honestly, the f2p players get all the same content a paying player has. The paying people are just getting shortcuts.

This is tolerable since the developers need to make money some way to ensure future updates.

But this is not supposed to be a rant on Lineage. As a matter of fact, even the great improvement I have felt in Rift, there is one thing Rift could not beat Lineage. The art of style, the soundtrack mainly.

This is one element of Lineage 2, that I have not seen better in the other mmorpgs out there. I guess that is why it is difficulty looking back at it.

But honestly, many of you saw the new Ertheia chronicle. They are spinning from the original game faster than ever before. Even if it is f2p now, the true people searching for the classical L2 will need to go to a private server eventually.

The features that Rift offers persuaded me to take it up instead of Lineage or any other mmorpg.
I am not saying that Rift is the best game out there, but I would say it's perhaps the best in the f2p market.
From the reviews I read, Gw2 is supposed to be better in many aspects. I can't agree or disagree on this statement, I just wanna tell you that:

I am glad I got to experience L2 and now Rift. The single player games on my pc were not giving me the satisfaction I searched for. Now, I am actively playing and enjoying raids, pvp, pve, crafting, fishing and spending time with my faction. I recommend you to do the same.
